Chinese Embassy Spokesperson's Remarks on Recovery of "Phoenix" Boat
2018/11/17

On the afternoon of November 17, despite all the difficulties, the Thai side salvaged the “Phoenix” which capsized and sank on July 5 in waters off Phuket. After water being pumped out, the remains of the boat will be taken to a shipyard for further check by the specialists.

Since the capsizing incident took place, the Chinese Embassy has been communicating closely with tourism authorities and the police of Thailand, requiring the Thai side to recover the wreckage of the boat as soon as possible, speed up with the investigation, find out and hold accountable those responsible for the incident.

The Embassy will stay in close contact with the Thai side to follow up on the investigation, and strive for the just and proper settlement of the incident at an early date.
