Ambassador Lyu Jian Attended Opening Ceremony of Chinese Training Course for Thai National Legislative Assembly Members

  On January 23, 2018, Ambassador Lyu Jian attended the opening ceremony of the "Spoken Chinese Training Course for National Legislative Assembly Members" program which was co-held by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) Secretariat and the Confucius Institute at Kasetsart University. NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai declared the opening of the training program. First Deputy President of the NLA Surachai Liengboonlertchai and NLA Secretary-General were present.

  In his speech, President Pornpetch thanked Ambassador Lyu Jian for attending this event and reputed China as a country with venerable history and civilization who plays an increasingly important role in the international stage. The Chinese Model of leap-forward development has attracted world attention. With the continuous rising of China's influence, the status of Chinese language is becoming more and more important. It is believed that with the improvement of the Chinese proficiency of the NLA members, the China-Thailand relations will be further strengthened and the bilateral cooperation will be promoted in more areas.

  Ambassador Lyu Jian said that China's "Belt and Road" initiative is quite compatible with the strategy of Thailand 4.0, and both sides have maintained close high-level exchanges and policy communication. The Chinese Training program co-held by the NLA Secretariat and the Confucius Institute of Kasetsart University made a breakthrough in the conventional Chinese teaching model and tailored the training program to meet NLA members’ needs of daily communication. It will certainly improve the members' understanding of China and promote in-depth exchanges between the two parliaments.
