Ambassador Lyu Jian Attended 15th Anniversary Celebration of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities

  On the noon of November 12, Ambassador Lyu Jian was invited to attend and address the 15th anniversary celebration of Thai Alumni Association of China’s Universities (TACU).

  Ambassador Lyu Jian fully recognized the contribution made by TACU in promoting Chinese culture and pushing forward exchanges and cooperation between China and Thailand in culture and education, and warmly congratulated TACU on its 15th anniversary.

  In his speech, Ambassador Lyu talked about the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He said that the 19th National Congress is a meeting of great importance taking place during the decisive stage in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and at a critical moment as socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. The Congress came up with several major political judgments such as the principal contradiction facing Chinese society has evolved into one between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life. The Congress affirmed the historic role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and set forth the tasks of securing a decisive victory in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and embarking on a journey to fully build a modern socialist China. The Congress also made an overall plan for advancing the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the great new project of Party building in the new era.

  Ambassador Lyu said that Thailand is an important neighbor of China and the two countries have a long history of friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 42 years ago, the bilateral relationship has been marching steadily along the correct track, setting a good example for countries of different social systems to develop friendly relations. At present, both China and Thailand are at an important development stage in economic transformation and upgrading, therefore, China-Thailand cooperation faces important opportunities. The two governments will further enhance the complementarity of development strategies so that the Belt and Road can be well integrated with Thailand 4.0 and the Eastern Economic Corridor. At the same time, the two governments will continue to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and promote China-Thailand relations, which will in return facilitate the two countries’ respective development and create more benefits for both peoples.

  Nearly 700 people attended the celebration including the Assistant to the Minister of Culture of Thailand, Director General Zhang Jianqing of the Overseas Department of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China, members of TACU and representatives of overseas Chinese in Thailand.
