The Chinese Embassy in Thailand holds a new year celebration

On January 20, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand held a new year celebration at the Chinese Cultural Center in Bangkok. More than 600 people attended the event, including Chuan Leekpai, President of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives of Thailand, Dr. Bhokin Bhalakula, former President of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Thai-Chinese Cultural and Economic Association, Korn Dabbaransi, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Thai-Chinese Friendship Association, Jitti Tangsithipakdee, Chairman of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, Dr. Sangchai Sotthavarakul, Chairman of the Tio-Chew Association in Thailand, as well as guests from Thai political, business, military and academic sectors, celebrities and representatives of overseas Chinese, Chinese funded institutions and overseas Chinese students in Thailand, to celebrate the Chinese lunar new year of Rat.

On behalf of Ambassador Lyu Jian, Charge d'affaires Yang Xin delivered a warm speech. He extended his new year greetings to the guests, reviewed the historical achievements since the founding of the People's Republic of China over the past 70 years, and spoke positively of the fruitful achievements of the pragmatic cooperation in various fields between China and Thailand in 2019. He pointed out that 2020 is the closing year for China to achieve the first "Two Centenary" goals, and it is also the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. China-Thailand relations are faced with important development opportunities, huge potential and promising prospects. China is willing to take the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to further share opportunities and enhance cooperation with Thailand, so as to make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations in 2020. It is believed that China-Thailand comprehensive strategic partnership will usher in a better tomorrow.

The Chinese Cultural Center in Bangkok was decorated with lanterns and festoons, which was of strong festive atmosphere of new year on that day. The guests enjoyed the Chinese Zodiac art exhibition by Han Meilin, a famous Chinese artist, and the performances of songs, dances, and folk music, full of Chinese ethnic flavor, brought by Yunnan Pu'er art troupe. They also enjoyed the traditional Chinese Spring Festival customs, such as lion dance, spring festival couplets writing and Fu character pasting.They tasted traditional festival snacks as dumplings, spring rolls and others. The warm atmosphere enabled guests not only to experience the traditional Chinese culture, but also to look forward to the bright future of China-Thailand relations during friendly talks. Everyone took photos in front of the photo board, waterside pavilion and flower pillars, and praised the elaborate arrangement, wonderful programs and delicious food. Guests said that the celebration let them feel China's tremendous development achievements and strong new year's atmosphere, and they sincerely wish that China-Thailand relations will be better and closer!
