China and Thailand sign the Memorandum of Understanding on the water resources cooperation on projects of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund

  On December 24, Chinese ambassador to Thailand Lyu Jian and Secretary General of the National Water Resources Office of Thailand Somkiat Prajamwong signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the water resources cooperation on projects of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund. According to the agreement, China will fund the National Water Resources Office of Thailand to carry out research and cooperation on Thailand-Myanmar boundary river management mode, so as to accumulate experience for boundary river management in the region. Water resources is one of the priority areas of Lancang-Mekong cooperation. On July 17, the Lancang-Mekong Ministerial Conference on water resources cooperation was held in Beijing. The conference announced the joint statement of the Lancang-Mekong Ministerial Conference on water resources cooperation and the list of proposals for Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation projects, and witnessed the signing of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation center and the Secretariat of the Mekong River Commission. The six countries of Lancang-Mekong region are working together to build Lancang-Mekong water resources cooperation into a "flagship brand" of Lancang-Mekong cooperation.
