Minister Counselor Wu Zhiwu Held Discussions with "Belt and Road" Interview Team from Hong Kong

On November 15, the "Belt and Road” interview team organized by the Hong Kong Federation of Journalists visited the Chinese Embassy in Thailand and Minister Counselor Wu Zhiwu held a symposium with the interview team members and exchanged ideas with them.

Minister Counselor Wu introduced the development of China-Thailand relations in an all-round way from the aspects of history, politics, economy and people-to-people bond, and elaborated on the progress of the Belt and Road initiative in Thailand in terms of policy coordination, facilities connectivity, pragmatic cooperation and cultural exchange between China and Thailand. Wu said that the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which had recently concluded, provided new opportunities for the development of China-Thailand relations and was conducive to the exchange of governance experience, promotion of mutually beneficial cooperation and closer coordination in the international and regional affairs. Under the background of China-Thailand relations making steady progress, if Hong Kong gives full play to its own advantages and seizes the favorable opportunities of signing free trade and investment agreements with ASEAN and setting up economic and trade office in Thailand, it will surely create remarkable achievements in cooperation.

Members of the interview team said that the introduction by Minister Counselor Wu gave them a clearer picture of the status quo and prospects of the China-Thailand relations. They also asked questions on the "Eastern Economic Corridor" in Thailand, the Sino-Thai railway cooperation, and the investment opportunities of SMEs in Thailand.
