On January 8, Meng Xiangfeng, deputy secretary of Work Committee for Offices Directly under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCCPC) and deputy director of the General Office of CCCPC, led a delegation of the Chinese Communist Party to visit Thailand and held a briefing session on the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Bangkok. Ambassador Lyu Jian attended the briefing. About 300 people including Thailand's former Prime Minister and Democratic Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, Chairman Bhokin Bhalakula of the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, and Thai government officials, academic institution researchers and friendly personages were present.

In his welcoming speech, Dr. Bhokin Bhalakula said, the 19th CPC National Congress is an event that has landmark significance and the concept of building the community with a shared future for mankind put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping will have a far-reaching impact on Thailand and the rest of the world. Thailand needs to learn from China's thoughts and practices for its economic and social development, and the Thai society hopes that, through this briefing, it can improve its understanding on the 19th CPC National Congress and learn from China's experience so as to benefit the Thai people.

Deputy Secretary Meng Xiangfeng introduced the main content of the 19th CPC National Congress in a concise, vivid and humorous manner, focusing on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. He pointed out that this thought is the latest achievement of Marxism in China and it opened up a new realm of Marxism, of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, of state administration and of party governance. He introduced in detail the five-sphere integrated plan for building socialism with Chinese characteristics (to promote coordinated progress in economic, political, cultural, social and ecological areas) and the vision of innovative, coordinated, green, and open development, stressing that China will stick fast to the path of peaceful development and actively promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Deputy Secretary Meng noted that "Jeen Thai Phee Nong Gan", and the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese government attach great importance to the development of relations with Thailand. The 19th CPC National Congress will further unleash the vitality of China's development and China's “Two Centenary Goals” will surely be realized, creating more opportunities for economic development of Thailand and the region.

Ambassador Lyu Jian and Deputy Secretary Meng Xiangfeng jointly answered questions at the briefing. Regarding how Thailand can benefit from the development of China, Ambassador Lyu said that pragmatic cooperation between China and Thailand has been steadily pushed forward in recent years, and that the construction of the railway cooperation project will deliver the benefits generated by China’s development to people along the railway, particularly to people in Northeastern Thailand. The establishment of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Innovation Cooperation Center (Bangkok) provides a new platform for China-Thailand scientific and technological cooperation and talent exchange, enables Thailand to share outcomes of scientific and technological innovation in China, and improves and upgrades pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. China and Thailand also conducted close cooperation through regional and sub-regional mechanisms such as China-ASEAN cooperation and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC). With the deepening of all-round and in-depth pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, China and Thailand will realize common prosperity.
