Chinese Ambassador and Spouse Attended Awarding Ceremony of Thailand's Princess Srinagarindra Awards

  On December 11, the awarding ceremony of Princess Srinagarindra Awards for the year 2016 and 2017 hosted by Princess Srinagarindra Award Foundation was held at the Grand Palace in Bangkok, and Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn came to present the Awards to the awardees. Lyu Jian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Kingdom of Thailand, and his wife Councilor Pan Peng attended the ceremony.

  Wu Xinjuan, Director of Nursing Department of the Peking Union Medical College Hospital received the Princess Srinagarindra Award for the year 2016 for her outstanding contribution in nursing and health care, which was, in particular, reflected in her work during the 2003 SARS outbreak when she set up an effective process to deal with emergency and high-risk infectious disease, took the lead in nursing SARS patients and completed the mission with no one of her nursing team infected.

  Princess Srinagarindra Award Foundation, under the auspices of the Royal Thai Family, was established on October 21, 2000 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Princess Srinagarindra Mahidol, and one Srinagarindra Award is conferred annually upon an individual or a group of registered nurses or midwives who have made significant contributions within the nursing profession (including direct nursing, research, education and management).

  From 2000 till now, there have been nursing experts from the ROK, Thailand, India, Japan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, the United States and Singapore who have won the Award. Chinese nursing expert Lin Juying was granted the Award in 2001.
