Chinese Embassy in Thailand Hosted 68th National Day Reception

  Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Lyu Jian and his wife hosted a reception in celebration of the 68th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok on September 28, 2017. More than 1000 guests including President of the National Legislative Assembly Mr. Pornpech Wichitcholchai, Deputy Prime Minister Dr.Wissanu Krea-ngam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Virasakdi Futrakul who was the representative of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr.Don Pramudwinai, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Pornchai Tarkulwaranont, representatives of Thai government and major political parties, senior military and police officials including Deputy Commander of Royal Thai Air Force, representative of Supreme Commander Gen. Surapong as well as Deputy Chief of the Supreme Command Headquarters, Madame Shamshad Akhtar, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Thailand, overseas Chinese, Chinese-funded enterprises, Chinese volunteer teachers and Chinese students in Thailand attended the reception.

  In his speech, Ambassador Lyu said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics has made great progress, people's life has improved significantly, and the undertakings of the party and the state have made historic achievements and changes. China has fully developed friendly cooperation and global partnership with all countries and actively contributed its wisdom to safeguarding world peace and promoting common development. China has proposed the initiatives of building a new type of international relations with win-win cooperation at the core, creating a community of shared future for all mankind, building the Belt and Road, and establishing a more just, equitable, inclusive and balanced global governance system. The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will further enhance China's firm confidence in the path, theories, system, and culture of Chinese socialism and boost China's contribution to the cause of world peace and development.

 

  Ambassador Lyu noted that China and Thailand are neighbors enjoying traditional friendship. "Jeen Thai pee nong gan" has not only become the consensus of Chinese and Thai governments, and the theme of China-Thai relations, but also taken deep roots in the hearts of both peoples. When attending the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries in China upon invitation, Prime Minister Prayuth held a bilateral meeting with President Xi Jinping. Their important consensus on consolidating political mutual trust, expanding economic exchanges and trade, promoting mutual investment and strengthening cooperation in various fields has charted the course and laid a more solid foundation for the further development of bilateral relations. At present, the Thai government is committed to economic upgrading and social development. The "Thailand 4.0", the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and other strategies proposed by the Thai government are highly compatible with the concept, goals and methods of the Belt and Road initiative, creating favorable conditions for the two countries to synergize national strategies, pursue common development, and in particular, deepen practical cooperation.

 

  Ambassador Lyu stressed that China has always attached great importance to the development of friendly relations with Thailand and sincerely hopes that Thailand will maintain political stability, social harmony and that the people will live and work in contentment and peace. China respects Thailand's choice of development path that suits its own national conditions and will stay as Thailand's brotherly sincere partner for economic growth, transformation and upgrading.

  President Pornpech and Deputy Prime Minister Dr.Wissanu made speeches respectively. They sent warm congratulations to China on its 68th birthday and highly commended China's great achievements in development and construction and increasingly important role in international affairs in recent years. Thailand-China relations have a long history, and the two peoples have forged a brother-like friendship. At present, Thailand-China relations are developing rapidly, with extensive exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology and culture. Thailand is willing to participate more actively in the construction of the "Belt and Road", align its development plans with those of China's, so as to reinforce each other, make common progress, and continuously increase the achievements of Thai-Sino friendly cooperation for the benefits of people from both countries and in the region.

 

  At the beginning of the reception, the guests were in silence for a minute to deeply mourn for His Majesty Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who was deeply respected by people of China and Thailand. The reception was in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Guests congratulated China on the National Day, exchanged frank opinions on the development of China and China-Thailand relations, and enjoyed the wonderful performance by artists of Hebei Choric Theatre. Before the reception, the guests also visited the photo exhibition held by the Chinese Embassy.
