Ambassador Lyu Jian Visited the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand and the Tio Chew Association

On the afternoon of September 21, Ambassador Lyu Jian visited the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand and the Tio Chew Association, and exchanged views with the members.

    

Ambassador Lyu Jian fully recognized the contribution made by the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand and the Tio Chew Association over the years in promoting practical cooperation and friendly relations between the two countries. He said that both countries are in the important stage of development. Thailand 4.0 and the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) are quite compatible with the concept, goals and methods of China's Belt and Road initiative, hence the development of bilateral relations is facing new opportunities. He hopes that overseas Chinese will give full play to their advantages and actively participate in the building of the Belt and Road, make greater contribution to the economic and social development of Thailand, and in-depth cooperation between China and Thailand, and work with the Chinese Embassy to bring the Chinese and the Thai even closer.

   

Mr. Jitti Tangsithipakdee, Chairman of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand, and Dr. Sangchai Sotthavarakul, Chairman of the Tio Chew Association, warmly congratulated Ambassador Lyu on assuming his post in Thailand and expressed their gratitude to the ambassador for his visit. The two Chairmen respectively briefed Ambassador Lyu on the development of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand and the Tio Chew Association and the work in enhancing cooperation between China and Thailand and in promoting Chinese culture. They expressed their willingness to continue to play an active role in encouraging more members to participate in the building of the Belt and Road and to make contribution to China-Thailand relations and economic and social development of the two countries.

Nearly 100 people attended the event, including Counselor and Consul General Mr. Li Chunlin, Counselor of Overseas Chinese Affairs Mr. Zhang Donghao, and chairmen, vice chairmen, heads of departments of the Thai-Chinese Chamber of Commerce Thailand and the Tio Chew Association, as well as presidents of other assembly halls among the "Nine Assembly Halls of Chinese Congregation" and of Chinese associations of fellow provincials in Thailand.
