Ambassador Lyu Jian Exchanged Views with Members of National Legislative Assembly of Thailand Upon Invitation

  On September 14, Ambassador Lyu Jian was invited to exchange views and have dinner with H.E. Mr. Surachai Liengboonlertchai, First Vice President of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) of Thailand, and members of the Thailand-China Parliamentarians Friendship Group, NLA committees on foreign affairs, transportation, energy, agriculture, industry and commerce, and science and technology.

  NLA First Vice President Surachai Liengboonlertchai welcomed Ambassador Lyu’s arrival in Thailand, saying that the relationship between China and Thailand has a long history, and the two countries have conducted fruitful cooperation in politics, trade, investment, education and culture since the establishment of diplomatic ties 42 years ago. The First Vice President said, owing to frequent exchanges between the legislatures of the two countries, that he made several visits to China and China impressed him very much. He believes that the Thai-Chinese relations will achieve greater progress with the joint efforts of both sides.

  Ambassador Lyu thanked H.E. Mr. Surachai Liengboonlertchai and the NLA for their long-standing support for China-Thailand relations and the Chinese Embassy. Ambassador Lyu noted that China-Thailand relations have maintained healthy and stable growth, featuring “amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness”. The two countries are facing new opportunities in developing bilateral ties. As the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, he was deeply aware of his lofty mission and important responsibilities. He is willing to cooperate closely with all friends including the NLA, to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges between the two countries, synergize the development strategies of both sides, share experience on state governance, expand bilateral economic cooperation and trade, boost mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples, so as to push forward the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Thailand.

  Ambassador Lyu also talked about the meeting between President Xi Jinping and Thai Prime Minister Prayut who came to attend the Dialogue of Emerging Market and Developing Countries in Xiamen in early September. He said the atmosphere of their meeting was warm and friendly. The meeting fully reflected that the Chinese government attaches great importance to China-Thailand relations, and that the bilateral relationship is promising. The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common interest including environment protection, high-speed railway and e-commerce.
